The Ants Go Marching

The ants are back and they're coming in droves! I know some people think ants are pests, and I guess they can be if they're indoors, but I've always admired them. I think they're ability to work together as a collective is incredible, and their individual strength basically makes them all super heroes by human standards! As a child I remember searching for ants on the concrete in my mom's backyard, and always being amazed how the ants would turn away from my fingers when I'd try to pick them up. So smart!

I don't know what they must have found, but I saw a mega swarm of ants while walking down a nature trail today. It was fascinating-- knowing that each of them have their own job and that they are so highly organized. I feel like I would make a good scientist in another life...but I feel like the same could be said about many artists!

Today I decided to paint a picture of a few of the ants I saw. I think they're so sweet looking. I wish I would've had a nice PB&J to share with them. Maybe next time!
