Nature's Art Supplies

Things have been so prosperous in my backyard! I decided to take a walk in my very woodsy personal sanctuary to collect materials to create art with. When I started I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to make, only that I wanted items from nature to be my primary supplies. I found the experience of collecting materials in nature to be so romantic and relaxing-- almost as if I had time-traveled to a simpler era. I honestly could have done that all day-- like an art supply harvester. But I did clip and pick quite a few things to use, so I decided it was time to start creating. I played around arranging the different items for awhile, until I realized it was exciting to allow the natural shapes of each plant I found to inspire what I created! It ended up being a portrait of a woman. I especially love how the larger leaves resemble locks of hair, how the frills of a dandelion resemble eyelashes, and how a bleeding heart resembles lips. I can't wait to make more of these ephemeral pieces, it was such a rewarding experience!
